Even though Britney Spears' conservatorship is over, more and more disturbing details about what her life was like while living under dad Jamie Spears' thumb keep coming out. Among the latest? Apparently, Jamie spied on Britney while acting as her conservator, and these claims are being corroborated by someone close to the situation.
Jamie allegedly spied on Britney during her 13-year conservatorship.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Jamie "engaged in and directed others to engage in unconscionable violations of [Britney’s] privacy and civil liberties," and a former FBI agent, Sherine Ebadi, claimed in the paperwork that this could potentially have "criminal implications" for Jamie.
This information originally came from Alex Vlasov, an employee with a security company that worked for Jamie and Britney.
Vlasov has claimed that his employer, Black Box Security, directed him to install software that would monitor Britney's phone, and in the filing, Ebadi said that Jamie was "particularly interested in his daughter’s attorney-client communications and wanted regular updates from Black Box on the substance of those privileged messages."
The surveillance didn't stop there.
The documents also allege that a monitoring device was in Britney's bedroom, recording hundreds of hours of audio.
"Black Box was initially responsible for suggesting that a secret listening device be planted in [Britney’s] bedroom, but [Jamie] 'loved' the idea and approved and instructed that the installation move forward," Ebadi claimed, adding that the device was duct-taped behind furniture so Britney wouldn't be able to see it.
This news comes at the same time Britney sent a cease and desist letter to her sister, Jamie Lynn.
Over the past couple of weeks, Jamie Lynn has been speaking out about Britney in interviews, making claims that Britney maintains are lies. And now, Britney's lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, has issued a letter to Jamie Lynn asking her to stop.
"You of all people know the abuse and wrongdoing Britney had to endure during the conservatorship, after initially growing up with a 'ruinous,' alcoholic father," Rosengart wrote in the letter.
Jamie Lynn also has claimed she tried to emancipate herself during Britney's 2007 meltdown.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Jamie Lynn claimed that she served her mother, Lynne, emancipation papers around the time that Britney was struggling, but Lynne was able to make a deal with Jamie Lynn that allowed her to move out to be with her new family after she gave birth to her oldest daughter at 16.
It seems like this won't be the end of the Spears family drama — not by a long shot. Here's hoping that if Britney really was spied on, she's able to get justice.
